It happens all the time. Our phone rings. A frantic customer’s machine shut down. The control is dead. Their shop is in the middle of a critical rush job and production just came to a halt.
When we ask “When did you last change the battery in your control?” the answer is “I don’t know.”
Ignore the battery in your CNC control at your peril
When our garage door openers and car fobs stop working, we replace the battery.
When the CNC control for our mission critical fabricating machines stop working, it’s not always that simple.
Obsolete machines with outdated control software can run just fine for years on a depleted battery until they finally give up. Suddenly, the screen goes blank. Production is over for the day.
When the battery is replaced and the control restarts, your stored software and part programs might still be there and they might not. If the original software is no longer available, new software has to be retrofitted and your carefully stored programs are gone for good.
It’s easy to prevent this from happening. Give International Technologies’ service department a call. We’ll make sure to source the right battery and walk you through the proper replacement process or come to your shop and do it for you. A few dollars and a few minutes downtime today might save hours or even days of production tomorrow.
Ask yourself, when was the last time you changed your control battery? If you don’t know the answer, call us at 847-301-9005 or send us a request for service. We’ll make sure your control is ready to deliver when you need it most.
